One way of finding Cuskinny Bay is to get yourself to Cobh and then ask for directions - or follow the coast for 2 miles eastwards.
This page gives a more direct route from the Cork-Waterford road. If you are concerned with commuting times and distances, then this route is worth trying out for size.

The Cobh Cross junction is about 8 miles east of the centre of Cork City;
about 5 miles east of the Dunkettle Roundabout and the Jack Lynch Tunnel on the N25 road from Cork to Youghal, Waterford and Rosslare.
Ballymore Villa is about 5 miles away by the most direct road route. |
 |
Leaving Cobh Cross for Cobh, you immediately reach the approach to Fota Island, with Fota Golf Club on your right. |
 |
Follow the main road through Fota Island. About 1 mile on, just after the entrance to Fota House and Fota Wildlife Park, you come to the humpbacked bridge at Belvelly, with the Martello Tower immediately in front of you. Turn left at the far side of the bridge (towards the square Norman tower).
A right turn would take you along the main road to Cobh. |
 |
Just beyond the Norman tower, turn right at the next junction (which would be following the major road)
A left would take you along the northern shore of Great Island, and eventually to the east and south coasts - with a number of options for right turns off the northern road to take you south. |
 |
Follow the road up and over the hill. You'll pass two junctions with minor roads - the first coming from the right at a right-angle corner; the second leading off up to the left. Just keep going downhill.
At the bottom of the hill (and about 2.5 miles from Fota, you'll come to a crossroads.
Turn left here.
Straight on would take you into the back of Cobh Town above the Cathedral. A right would take you to the River Ferry at Carrigaloe. |
 |
Follow the road and you'll come to a staggered crossroads. Keep straight onwards.
A right would take you to the Ballywilliam Riding Centre and Cobh Golf Club, then on to the eastern side of the town. A left would take you uphill towards the North and East of the island. |
 |
After a few hundred yards, the wildlife preserve of Cuskinny Lake and Woods will be on your left.
At the end of the road you'll come to a T-junction. Turn left here.
A right would take you up the hill to Cobh. |
 |
You immediately see Cuskinny Bridge. |
 |
Over the bridge, and you're in Cuskinny Bay, with the sea on your right, the lake on your left.
Ballymore Villa is just beyond the Bay on the left. Beyond that lie Ballymore Village, Marlogue Woods and the East Ferry Marina. |
