Why sell?

We've lived in the house since 1976 and brought up three children there.
I've always wanted to design and build a house. Call it mid-life crisis. It's now or never.

"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones that you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
--- Mark Twain

Services

  • Water supply is from a natural spring on the hill behind the house.
No pump is required as gravity does the work.
The water is tested from time to time and no trace of chemical or biological contamination has been found. One reason for this is the elevation of the spring in an undeveloped area zoned as scenic countryside.
    - Do a taste test if you view the house. It's really good quality.
  • Service charges are for refuse collection only. This is the County Council pay-by-weight system.
  • Wastewater goes to a large cess pit of approximate dimensions 7'x7'x3'. This was cleaned out recently. We had cleaned it 22 years previously while just inspecting it. The cleaning service estimate that they will have to come back again in maybe 50 years.

Schools

There are four Primary and two Secondary schools in Cobh. Many children also attend schools in Carrigtwohill and Cork.

The Primary School closest to Cuskinny is Walterstown National School. This is 1 mile east of us, beyond Ballymore Village. This is a new well-equipped modern building, with classrooms, admin and special purpose rooms surrounding a central gymnasium/assembly hall.

The old school building is now used as a community centre.
