Go Bruins, actually I don't care who wins as long as it goes seven games and they beat each other silly , Leafs are waiting for the survivors *G*. Shamrock there was a team that came back to win the Stanley Cup after being down 3 games to 1, What team pulled off this amazing feat against the DETROIT REDWINGS?

It might be worth noting here that basketball was invented by a Canadian, then it again it might not be worth noting, however it was and it has been.

Must have been half asleep when I asked that question pegs, not only didn't I ask for the year but it was a 3 games to 0 lead that Detroit had. 1942 Redwings win the first three games 3-2, 4-2, 5-2 Leafs come back in the last four 4-3, 9-3, 3-0, 3-1 the only time it has happened in the Cup final. ps pegs, about all those redwings in the pool I picked for you? sorry, they were supposed to go further then that this year.

Ummm, I think congrats are in order here, Pegs, to Tec.I extend a handshake to ya Tec-congratulations! For what it's worth, I really don't think Hasek was much of a dominater in the series against Boston. Really thought Dafoe played just as well. Our defense let us down. My prediction? Toronto in 6. Tell ya Leafs, Tec, to shoot HIGH on Hasek, Boston proved that it could be done. GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!

I Still dont know why Owen Nolan is on North Americian so called *All Star* team .. i still say he should be a Rest of the World *All Star* since he was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland .. I know tecumsec is gonna claim him as a Canadian because of citizenship .. but I dont think that should count , it should be where you were born that counts..I'm sure N.Americia can fine a few players without poaching on the rest of the world ... lol

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Caoilte on Friday, January 28, 2000 - 09:15 pm:

What are your thoughts on the new overtime format , tec? .. I love it ... but I think it is unfair for the team who wins in regulation time to end up with the same points and a team who has to go to overtime to win.. it also encourages a team to play for a regulation tie.. then hoping to get a lucky brake in overtime.. my solution is to award 3 points pre game.. with A win in regulation time taking the 3 points ... 1 point each for a tie .. and the extra point been awarded of a overtime win .. I think this would really open up it up last 10 mins of close game ... there has been some moves to offer bonus points for goals scored .. I dont like this idea as I don't see any need to trying to have more goals scored. ( and anyway it didn't work in soccer)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Tecumseh on Saturday, January 29, 2000 - 01:00 pm:

I never had any problem with regular season games ending in a tie and didn't think overtime was needed at all. 3 points for an ovetime win? As the season neared the end and teams need points for playoff postioning some might play the first 60 minites to get a tie so they could go for 3 points in the overtime, I know I would if there were two games left and I was 5 points back. Owen Nolan on the world team? sure you have a strong case and I guess I would need to know how old he was when he moved here. Peter Nedved played on the Canadian Team in the World Championships once, and one of the Sweedish born raised and trained players was denied a spot on the last Sweedish olmypic team because he had taken out U.S citizenship, go figure.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Caoilte on Saturday, January 29, 2000 - 11:17 pm:

I DID NOT say 3 points for an overtime win.. I say 3 points for a REGULATION time win.. 1 point for a TIE and the extra point if a team wins in OVERTIME thats 2 points ..*s

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Caoilte on Sunday, January 30, 2000 - 04:50 am:

But I do agree with you about International Competation, the International Ice Hockey Federation, like most Sport's governing bodies , insist that a person must hold a citizenship of the country they are repersenting at the International level. this can be obtained either, by naturalisation or in most cases by been ably to qualify through the citizenship of grandparents..( case in point: the Rep. of Ireland Soccer team ).. also ,that is why most of the Italian Ice Hockey team are Canadian....As the NHL All Star Game isn't a recogonised International competation the above dosn't apply

Anyway tec. I think you missed my point about Owen Nolan..If he was put on the World Team.. it would leave another place on the N.Americian team for another Canadian ( or a US player), at the expense of a Europian. lol Im sure Don Cherry would agree with me on this .

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Tecumseh on Sunday, January 30, 2000 - 01:08 pm:

I read your post incorrectly. Now that I got it straight I think you may be on to something there, although I still don't see anything wrong with a tie the NHL does and your system should help to avoid them.
Now you have me thinking that your true goal is to take all the Irish from the NHL for an Irish olympic team, well they can't have them , we need everyone, ok maybe Pat Quinn could coach them *LMAO*

Owen Nolan answered questions from fans on the nhlpa website, this is one of them
Being Irish born, did you play soccer or hockey first? What do you think your life would be like if your family hadn't
emigrated to Canada?
Brent Francis, St. Petersburg, Florida

“Well, it definitely would be different. But I played soccer first and then baseball and then I eventually got into hockey. If
I was still in Ireland, I’d probably give soccer a shot or hurling.”

Its Terry Sawchuk, maybe 18 seasons, whatever it is it isn't mentioned often enough. He played for the 67 Leafs sharing the goaltending with Johnny Bower. I know he finished up with the N.Y Rangers but I can't think of any other teams he was on. Don't really remember watching him play but I remember getting his hockey card *S* I think he was the best to ever play but don't tell Cleo or she'll start a Jaques Plante board....p.s is it safe to click on the link? LMAO

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Tecumseh on Saturday, February 19, 2000 - 09:59 am:

looked it up: Sawchuk appeared in 971 regular-season games during more than 20 seasons in the NHL -- 734 with Detroit, 102 with Boston, 91 with Toronto, 36 with Los Angeles and eight with New York. In regular season action he played 953 1/3 complete games and had 2,401 goals-against for an average of 2.52. He registered 103 shutouts. I remember reading that He and Bower decided at the beginning of the season that they would share the Vezina Trophy if either won it because they knew neither would be able to play the whole season, it was the first time the trophy was shared.
