I have a grave concern about Tir...and would appreciate this being addressed and correct information given.

A newbie forwarded to me an URL of a reg who had told him in the chatroom that it was her webpage. It had nothing pertaining to her at all. It was a solicitation for very adult matters.

As I tried to close it, I was spammed with at least ten even more explicit solicitations, another popping up as I tried to close the previous. I feel that this woman had better check out her webpage again.

I will give her the benefit of the doubt as maybe someone hacked into her site. But, if she is using Tir to promote this kind of business, then some pontification is in dire need here.

This newbie was very disappointed that a site meant to be about Celtic topics seemed instead to involve pandering. I hope that he will see Tir in a new light where friends gather in fun and celebration and uplift others hearts.

Is Irish history only about war, uprisings, etc., or are there some noble souls who passed on something good to their posterity? Doesn't one's clan matter any more? Are there no values to be found?

I would like to encourage others at Tir to support the man who spends many long hours unselfishly providing the means for others to meet and share their gifts with one another. To me he personifies the true spirit of Tir na nOg.

Accasbel, thank you for sharing your many gifts and insights.

By all means, take all hats off and open all hearts to our wonderful host, Accasbel. I do not visit often, nor do I stay long, but I enjoyed the time I have spent very much. Blessing kind sir!

*checks her website* .. nahhh, not mine *phew* !

I have hung around this place for quite awhile now, guest, and I am very sure no reg from here would post something like that. I would say it was by accident, or written out wrongly.

Tir is surely a fine place, you are correct, and The Great Pontiff Accasbel is loved and respected and given MAGNITUDES of homage from us all....quietly. (well, mostly quietly, sometimes very loudly, to get ourselves out of trouble or to get free drinks at the bar)

There's a saying in Irish:
"Dúirt bean liom go ndúirt bean leí"
Literally :
"A woman told me that a woman told her"

In this case:
A 'guest' was forwarded a URL by a 'newbie' who said that it had been given to him by an allegedly female 'reg'. The URL was an Unacceptable Role for Ladies.

1) This kind of thing is bound to happen from time to time.
2) If it does happen, then all details should be forwarded directly to me. Names, IP numbers (in front of the handles), Date and Time, URLs, etc.
Without details, the thing is simply a rumour.
3) Other windows popping up when one attempts to close a window is a scripting trick that seems to be used only by sex sites that want to sell you things. It seems a very anti-selling thing to do, but then I'm only a part-time inn-keeper.
URLs might come in chat rooms, on message boards, via ICQ, in email SPAM, or whetever.
4) THE REAL LESSON, is that clicking on strange URLs can get you into places that you really don't want to be. However, without taking that risk, you'll miss out on a whole lot of good things.
The scripting trick in question usually just pops up new 'offers'. It is possible that a site could contain a script which is much more intrusive.
People should therefore check the security sections of Microsoft, NetScape, or whatever websites. New patches and upgrades can be found to counteract the efforts on bad-minded script writers.

I keep hearing about these pastries Lost Soul is bringing to the Inn...*dreamily contemplates the joy of a pumpkin pie with whipped cream or a wild romp across a Viennese dessert table*

LOL @ Seamus!!!! PASTIES not pastries!!!! Whipped cream may or may not belong, but most assuredly, the "wild romp" will bring comments. LOL

OK ... OK ... seems the difference between and 'angel' and and 'angle' in a typed out website addy makes all the difference. Seems it was my homepage address that caused the original offense *blushes dreadfully* ... oh Lacie who hates porn with a vengance!!

My apologies to the guest who was given the miss typed address, and to all and sundry for any offense the mistake may have given. I have no idea if it was me who actually typed it wrong or not, but hey, I have NEVER been known for my typing skills, right??????? *begs forgiveness*
