Getting Ready For A New Year

Tír na nÓg - Message Board: General - An extension of Chat: Getting Ready For A New Year

A new year is fast approaching......
Lots of messages to add to posting.....

Perhaps it's time to clean up some of the old
Message Board news. Lots of the subjects are very old and have not been discussed or added to for quite sometime. Clearing them off of the Message Board would make for a much easier access to the newest postings.

Just a thought.

I agree ....
But each time I think about raising the axe, I start to wonder should I preserve some bits that struck me as candidates for eternity. And then .. I look at the clock.

But yes, it's time for same savage pruning.

Although the discussion between George Washington, Attila the Hun and Padraig Pearse was insightful - it's past it's sell-by date.
Ditto for the 10 commandments so kindly passed on by Moses.

I'll start to make time for the slaughter in the coming week.
In the meantime, remember the Navigation topic. It lets you see a list of new messages.

Naked is good...'course, I rather enjoy physical nudity, and more than once in a while. Hell, I sleep naked, as does my beloved... ;)

But yes, some pruning is needed--there are a lot of dead threads on this board just taking up space.

Yes, saving some things would be good....but some of these postings are really very, very old and are never even looked at anymore. The Navigation topic is fine, but......

"never looked at"

You'd be surprised.

It's easy to forget that the site is visited by many different types of people.

There are 'regulars'
- who see Tir only as a chat space.
- some include the message board in their picture.
- some are met on the message board only and rarely or never chat.

There are 'irregulars'?
- who chat a little and maybe post on the board
- or who use the board only
- who wander through the vast dusty spaces of the board, and who see it all as fresh - despite the dates the messages were posted.
- who see neither chat nor board, but wander through the 'other, other' Tir - the website which happens to include a chat space and a message board.

I will (RSN) do some pruning, but in the meantime remember that the first topic on the board is "RECENT MESSAGES" (which up to yesterday was called "NAVIGATION").
I pity anyone trying to find new stuff simply by examing all the topic heading for recent dates.

Hey People,
I first came to Tir surfing for Irish history and legends. I accessed the stories and then the message boards. I traveled through several topics from the begining to the end. Then I got the courage to post something on my own. Looking for celtic or galic expressions. Then I went to the live chat. I have learned so much by surfing first, then the message boards and live chat. When I was proficient enough to understand some elimental concepts I took a bold step into chat. Some would say I'm not profient enough. I learn something every day and people should take a break around here and not be so judgemental of Quirky members.
These message topics tell a story and I found it fascinating. It told me there were people here I wanted to talk to.

This magic land has some wonderful things to offer. Computer curiosity and education is one of them. I do like to play. It has been such fun!

Karen

Oh I do approve of the change to Recent Message. I had to do a lot of experimenting before I stumbled upon Navigation almost a year ago to the day.
And I did not have anyone in particular in mind in my last post. When I first started I was ridiculed by a guest and it hurt my little feelings. I was posting for the first time and a guest spoiled the experience.

Is there any way the year of the last postings could be added to the message board listings dates, Accasbel? It's starting to cross over now!
I agree, archives would be great. I love looking at old threads as I only visit infrequently.
