SpongeBob is a sea sponge who lives with his pet snail, Gary, in a fully furnished, two bedroom...pineapple. SpongeBob's dream in life is to be the ocean's ultimate fry cook, and thanks to his job flipping Krabby Patties at the Krusty Krab, he lives that dream every day. SpongeBob is as optimistic and earnest as a sea-dwelling sponge gets, but he can't seem to avoid getting himself—and usually everyone else around him—into trouble. While trying too hard, he tends to do things wrong—really wrong—which usually spells disaster. But SpongeBob's always looking on the bright side of life, and his enthusiasm about just about everything make him downright irresistible
But Eeeeeekkk....I should have started a new discussion....sorry folks~

I'll give you all the lyrics give me the singer:

It's lonesome away from your kindred and all
By the campfire at night where the wild dingos call
But there's nothin' so lonesome, so dull or so drear
Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer

Now the publican's anxious for the quota to come
There's a faraway look on the face of the bum
The maid's gone all cranky and the cook's acting queer
What a terrible place is a pub with no beer

The stockman rides up with his dry, dusty throat
He breasts up to the bar, pulls a wad from his coat
But the smile on his face quickly turns to a sneer
When the barman says suddenly: "The pub's got no beer!"

There's a dog on the verandah, for his master he waits
But the boss is inside drinking wine with his mates
He hurries for cover and he cringes in fear
It's no place for a dog round a pub with no beer

Then in comes the swagman, all covered with flies
He throws down his roll, wipes the sweat from his eyes
But when he is told he says, "What's this I hear?
I've trudged fifty flamin' miles to a pub with no beer!"

Old Billy, the blacksmith, the first time in his life
Has gone home cold sober to his darling wife
He walks in the kitchen; she says: "You're early, me dear"
Then he breaks down and he tells her that the pub's got no beer

It's lonesome away from your kindred and all
By the campfire at night where the wild dingos call
But there's nothin' so lonesome, so dull or so drear
Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer

singer song album???????????????

The continent of XXXXXXXXXXX was an island
which lay before the great flood
in the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean.
So great an area of land, that from her western shores
those beautiful sailors journeyed
to the South and the North Americas with ease,
in their ships with painted sails.

To the East Africa was a neighbour, across a short strait of sea miles.
The great Egyptian age is but a remnant of The Atlantian culture.
The antediluvian kings colonised the world
All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas
In all legends from all lands were from fair XXXXXXXXXX
Knowing her fate, XXXXXXXXXX sent out ships to all corners of the Earth.
On board were the Twelve:
The poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist,
The magician and the other so-called Gods of our legends.
Though Gods they were -
And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind
Let us rejoice and let us sing and dance and ring in the new
Hail XXXXXXXXXXX
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be.
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be.
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah,
I wanna see you some day
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah,
My antediluvian baby,
My antediluvian baby, I love you, girl,
Girl, I wanna see you some day.
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah
I wanna see you some day, oh
My antediluvian baby.
My antediluvian baby, I wanna see you
My antediluvian baby, gotta tell me where she gone
I wanna see you some day
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, oh yeah
Oh glub glub, down down, yeah
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah yeah yeah

Simple rules and simple plans,
Fancy words he didn't understand,

Socialists preach of a promised land,
But old uncle son, was an ordinary man.

Bless you uncle son,

Unionists tell you when to strike,

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Ludd on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 - 06:41 pm:

When I was a young man I carried my pack
And I lived the free life of a rover
From the murrays green basin to the dusty outback
I waltzed my matilda all over
Then in nineteen fifteen my country said son
It’s time to stop rambling ’cause there’s work to be
Done
So they gave me a tin hat and they gave me a gun
And they sent me away to the war
And the band played waltzing matilda
As we sailed away from the quay
And amidst all the tears and the shouts and the
Cheers
We sailed off to gallipoli

How well I remember that terrible day
the blood stained the sand and the water
And how in that hell that they called suvla bay
We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter
Johnny turk he was ready, he primed himself well
He us with bullets, he rained us with
Shells
And in five minutes flat he’d blown us all to hell
Nearly blew us right back to australia
But the band played waltzing matilda
As we stopped to bury our slain
And we buried ours and the turks buried theirs
Then started all over again

Now those
In mad world of blood, death and fire
And for weeks I kept myself alive

Then a big turkish shell knocked me arse over tit
And when I woke up in my hospital bed
And saw what it had done, I wished I was
Dead
Never knew there were worse things than dying
no more I’ll go waltzing matilda
the green far and near
For to hump tent and pegs, a man needs two legs
No more waltzing matilda for me

So they collected the cripples, the wounded
Maimed
And they shipped us back home to australia
, the blind insane
Those proud wounded heroes of suvla
And as our ship pulled into circular quay
I looked at the place where legs used to be
And thank christ there was nobody waiting for me
To grieve and to mourn and to pity
And the band played waltzing matilda
As they carried us down the gangway
But nobody cheered, they just stood and stared
turned all their faces away

And now every april I sit on my porch
And I watch the parade pass before me
my old comrades, how proudly they march
Reliving dreams of past glory

The forgotten heroes a forgotten war
And the young people ask , what are they
Marching for?
And I ask myself the same question
And the band plays waltzing matilda
And the old men answer to the call
But year after year their numbers get fewer
Some day no one will march there at all

Waltzing matilda, waltzing matilda
Who’ll a-waltzing matilda with me?

Ludd, do not apologize for the wonderful sentiment of rememberance ~ enjoyed seeing the ANZAC reminder. I have that very song on an audio tape given me by my Irish cousins. Very moving ballad indeed. ANZAC Day here started off a rainy one, but still the old soldiers came out to remember their comrades, as did their families and a newer generation who are keeping the memory of how freedom was attained, alive.

God bless the old soldiers who gave so much!

Okay, let's have a little fun. Since we're doing catagories, lets guess songs that never should have been written. I left out some of the worst if you can believe it (If you don't believe me, thin Barry Manilow, Celine Dionne etc.)

1. I'll break it down for you now, baby it's simple
If you be a nympho, I'll be a nympho
In the hotel or in the back of the rental
On the beach or in the park, it's whatever you into
Got the magic stick, I'm the love doctor "

2. There's this cute little girlie, she's a'workin' there
A black leotard and her feet are bare
I'm gonna drink a lotta coffee, spend a little cash
Make that girl love me when I put on some trash

3.Chickity China the Chinese chicken
You have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin'
Watchin' X-Files with no lights on
We're dans la maison

4. It's a 7-11
Do you want to take a walk outside
If you want a burrito
You can have another bite of mine

And last, but perhaps least...
Are you ready for this one? *CRINGES*

5. Swingin' in there
Cause she wanted me to feed her
So I mixed up the batter
And she licked the beater

Okay gamers, good luck and try not to toss your cookies.

(Celt's) "Rosalie...we've been talking all evening Possibly years I don't know But I could not remember Longer than last September..." Tec has answered the name of the song as :"Rosalie Rosalie can I sing you a song?" But has given no artist with that. We await Celt's deliberation.

How about a hint Silk? Would that be a Corr's song?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Silk on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 - 07:40 am:

Dave,

Luddie answered my last one correctly. The artist was Donovan, and although the title wasn't quite 'spot on the dot', it's too close to not let him have the point. *L* ...title being, "Catch the Wind".

I think Donovan also did Mellow Yellow too, did he not?...y'know, the song about Electric banana's *rolls eyes*. Think he also did "Hurdy Gurdy Man" (liked that one), and "Jennifer Juniper"(Didn't like that one) Those are the only ones I know to be Donovan's.

"Catch the wind" brings back memories of when I was a fresh 18 year old, hanging with a few older hippies. (My siblings are all quite a bit older than me, so I tended to relate better to an older age group than my own). Catch the Wind was one of the favourites for singing around fireside, with few ales a few laughs and a guitar. *sigh*...back when life was simple. :)

WOW! What do all these songs have in common?????

"Lick my decals off, baby"
"I Wanna Find A Woman That`ll Hold On To My Big Toe Till I Have To Go"
"The Clouds Are Full Of Wine (Not Whiskey Or Rye)"
"My Head Is My Only House Unless It Rains"
"Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles"
"Big Eyed Beans From Venus"
"Beatle Bones `N` Smokin` Stones"
"Gimme Dat Harp Boy"
"Zig Zag Wanderer"
"Grown So Ugly"
"Hey Garland Idig Your Tweed Coat"
"The Thousandth And Tenth Day Of The Human Totem"
"Semi Multicoloured Caucasian"
"Neon Meate Dream of a Octafish"
"The Dust Blows Forward `N The Dust Blows Back"
"Old Fart at Play"
"She`s Too Much for My Mirror"
"Bills Corpse"
"A Carrot Is As Close As A Rabbit Gets To A "Diamond"
"Making Love To A Vampire With A Monkey On My knee"

Uhhhhhhmmmmm...yes, that's correct, they win Silk's blue ribbon prize for world's most 'interesting' song titles!

Look into Frank Zappa's Apostrophe. Probably one of his better works. It is a bit silly lyrically, but the music is top notch Jazz/Rock Fusion. Not for the Pop of heart and definitely not for the members of the Brittany Spears/Jessica Simpson/American Idol fan clubs.

But don't you sli-ip
Don't you sli-ip in love with the girls on the avenue

So many girls on the avenue-ue

Girls on the avenue, Know how to get you in
Casting out si-igns like drinks from a ha-at
All the miss lonely hearts
Ooh, they look awful hard
And sometimes they seem as fragile as gla-ass
But don't you sli-ip
Don't you sli-ip in love with the girls on the avenue

Friday night, we see the girls on the avenue

These peope are actually still around to some extent. They had a top forty hit with a song about a bird, popular in the early seventies. The electric violin playing is key. The front man played violin and sang lead, male vocals. The song I from which I quoted is from their first album, titled after the name of the group. The name of the group is the same as the title of a recent hit song by U2

No takers on mine so I'll disclose the info. The excerpt is from the band Foreigner and their song "I wanna know what love is", which interestingly was their only number 1 hit and was critically different to all their previous rock works. A Gospel style ballad, it was backed by the most impressive vocal punch of the New Jersey Mass Choir.

The other two, I think I hear something there, but not quite coming to me. Maybe the first one is by Air Supply or Little River Band. Maybe the last one is one of those bands in that genre too. I just woke up, so the fog hasn't cleared yet. *LOL*

Third guess is correct with Maybe I'm Amazed/Paul McCartney.

Second guess is purrty close, so I guess I'll let you have it ~ don't want to be accused of being mean *L*. My understanding is it was The Bellamy Brothers who originated "If I said you had a beautiful body", but I've no doubt Jimmy did it also. The fill in's are correct.

The other two are very simple pop songs from yesteryear. You will kick yourself if you don't get 'em. *L*

OKAY CLEAN UP TIME...

Indie, "My Eyes Adored You", Franki Valli is correct. Good going girlfriend! I actually thought that Tec n' pegs would be the ones to crack that one along with...(below)

How about the other? A hint...sung by a 4 piece black American group.
"...the music's fine, like sparkling wine..."

No one 'cept McG, has had a whack at:
"I'd rather drink your muddy water, sleep down in a hollow log Than to be in atlanta, georgia, treated like a dirty dog"
So I'm giving out...That was Lynyrd Skynyrd with "Gimme a T for Texas" McG, you get the spoils on this one because you gave sufficient evidence that you indeed know the song, and was being courteous in letting others take a shot at it. *swoon...whadda gentleman!*

McG was correct AGAIN with his guess of Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople fame on the lyrics,
"I-i-i spy with my little eye, something
beginning with you"
The name of the song was "Artful Dodger", a funny little song worth a listen if you need a smile on yer dial. The lyrics are a hoot!

Rightio...I'm takin' a wee hiatus folks. BBLO.

I dedicate this to the children of Qana (a village in the South)and to all those who have departed...

Fear no more the heat o' the sun
Nor the furious winters' rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.

The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this and come to dust.

Fear no more the frown o' th' great;
Thou art past the tyrant's stroke
Care no more to clothe and eat;
To thee the reed is as the oak.
The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this and come to dust.

All lovers young, all lovers must
Consign to thee and come to dust.

Fear no more the lightning flash,
Nor th' all-dreaded thunder-stone;
Fear not slander, censure rash;
Thou hast finished joy and moan.
All lovers young, all lovers must
Consign to thee and come to dust.

Literary charachter... duh!... Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer... sorry...

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Mcguire on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 - 05:16 am:

Audrey Hepburn (as Holly Golitely or something like that) sang the song in the movie
Henry Mancini wrote the music and Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics
Huckleberry Finn was the literary character from the stories written by Samuel Langhorn Clemmon (aka Mark Twain)
I can only guess that Huckleberry Finn inspired the lyric because Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer made a raft and sailed it down the Mississippi River and it has a lot of bends in it (waiting round the bend, My Huckleberry Friend) and the Mighty Mississippi is mighty pretty with a full moon shining over it and it is over a mile across in many places, especially Missouri and further south, which is where Huck and Tom went sailing the raft with runaway slave, Jim. Got enough detail yet? *LOL*

Dear Tir Message Board:
In a post on the guess the song board the lyric do do do do is used in referance to an Elton John song. Please be advised that this is very simalar to the title of a Rolling Stones song, namely Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo also known as Heartbreaker.
The shock upon hearing of such a post was enough to knock me out of a coconut tree.

I remember a similar confusion about 'hey, hey, hey, hey' being used by Van Morrison - which of course was a flagrant rip-off of somebody else's (forget who) song.
What I want to hear is a song that contains no musical notes that have already been used by someone else.

You get up every morning

Take the 8:15 into the city
There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty
And if your train's on time
You can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day
And I'll be

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

If it were easy as fishin'
You could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second-hand guitar
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows
People see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
Tell them that you like it this way
It's the work that we avoid
And we're all self-employed
We love to work at nothing all day
And we be

Turn off your mind relax and float down-stream,

Lay down all thought surrender to the void,

That you may see the meaning of within,
It is speaking, it is speaking,
That love is all and love is ev’ryone,
It is knowing, it is knowing.
When ignorance and haste may mourn the dead,
It is believing, it is believing,
But listen to the color of your dreams,
It is not living, it is not living.
Or play the existence to the end.
Of the beginning, of the beginning.

1. And so ............
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so .................
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones

2.There's no need to be afraid
.......... we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world ..........
Let's stop all the fight

3................. frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
................. long ago.

Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him, nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away when He comes to reign.
.............a stable place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.

Enough for Him, Whom cherubim, worship night and day,
Breastful of milk, and a mangerful of hay;
Enough for Him, Whom angels fall before,
The ox and ass and camel which adore.

Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;
But His mother only, in her maiden bliss,
Worshipped the beloved with a kiss.

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.

So I dove into the darkness,
And I let my missles fly.
And they might be the ones,
That kept you free.

Once I was a prisoner,
I was riding in a truck,
Cleaned up for public display.
I looked at those around me,
And when they looked at me,
I let them see my soul that day.

Are you scared of it?
Do you wish that it would stop?
Does it bother you
when you hear your spirit talk?
Well I'm right with you,
Yes I'm right with you.
It's working on me,
It's working on you.
It's working on me.

Wonderful song and in my top 5 favourite artists of all time

Ludd you probably need to add a wee bit more icing sugar in the mix to stiffen it up so that it actually sticks to the rice bubbles rather than drains off them in the patty pans. Are you using good old "Kremelta" brand of shortening?

What are your ratios? Here's my recipe (not that I've made this in years)

250gm Kremelta
4 cups rice bubbles
1 cup icing sugar
3 tablespoons of cocoa
1 cup of dessicated coconut.
Method:
Melt the Kremelta in a pan on low heat.
Mix all the dry ingredients in another bowl, then pour the Kremelta in and mix well. Spoon into patty pans and set in fridge.

If you are still having trouble after that, try adding two or three tablespoons of non-fungicidal wallpaper paste powder, and use to restick any loose strips around the house *wide grin*

My God! That takes me back to being around 6 - 7 years old and making chocolate crackles for school cake stalls to fundraise for our class field trips. *L*

Guest, you're vicious. Reminds me of Witch Doctor, by Alvin and the Chipmunks, but I don't think that's quite it. Maybe a Shanana song? Something familiar about it. I'm stumped, but still thinking about it.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Mcguire on Monday, May 7, 2007 - 05:10 am:

Okay, maybe it's four songs?
1. Something rings familiar, hasn't gelled yet.
2. walla walla bing bang is the witch doctor song by the C-Munks.
3. Are you sure it's not Rama lama ding dong?
4. I don't mean maybe, that may actually be the title. No clue who did these things. 50's and 60's stuff

who was that man?,'d like to shake his hand, she's the woman that I know she's the woman that loves me so.

The other one almost sounds like the crunge by led zep, but the words don't seem quite the same, but I think Silk's right, Be bop a lula and I say Buddy Holly wrote it. I remember hearing Lennon do it too.

I saw her in concert recently in a small local venue and she is a total charmer

Three other English folk singers who I would recommend are Eliza Carthy, Kate Rusby and my absolute ( got every album ) favourite June Tabor

If you like lyrics then Eric Bogle who is a Scots/Australian singer is numero uno in my book

Thanks Ludd! I will definitely check all those out! By the way, what is her first CD? Cant tell from the website..... Dont know if you like this kind of music but you could check website www.thefables.com and listen to song clips from their cd's - they are a popular quintet from Nfld. I like them a lot and they are totally different from the artists we've "discussed" here.
Once again, thanks for the artists names!

Let's try one more for old time's sake....

For ten long years, not one single drop
Twelve months later I haven't stopped
Im covering the memory of a good love gone cold
And losing what's left of my mind and my soul...

or this one

Mother Mary is a lady from down in New Orleans
She's seen a lot of living since she was 17
She says "I'm bona fide and worldly wise, with original parts'cept for what set me to travelling, I'm talking about my heart"

Surely somebody can guess these two
