Roll Call! I'm collecting all the god and goddess names I can find. If you can give me a URL as well as a name, it's appreciated, but not mandatory.

Just Celtic deities, Roisín, or are you slumming with all those Greek and Roman persons too?

Well, I hang out with them--Mercury plays a wicked hand of poker *g*, but for this I only need the Irish ones. I'm making a list and checking it twice.

Thanks Acc! The suckers decided to party at my place last night--the house is a mess of empty bottles and greasy plates. Ah well, if the Greeks had showed up, the serving maids woulda been walking funny and there would have been pottery everywhere...

But I'm still taking names! SOMEBODY'S gonna pay for this!

Did I ever tell you about the Great God Sam Hain??
Warning: this will get very irreverent, and is not intended to be true teaching of any kind. This is the end result of a lot of surfing on Halloween, and a way to avoid getting mad at websites that purported to teach how evil Halloween is...

The Great God Sam Hain came to me one Halloween night, and possessed me utterly. He, who was purported to be the Ancient Druidical Lord of Death turned out to be a pretty nice guy. I met his Avatars,
Jimmy Dean,
Farmer John, and
Bob Evans.

They all hang out at a Poker Table up in the sky, and play with the Sacred Sausage Patty Chips, with the Blessed Grease-Proof Cards. The reason for this is that Sam Hain is as obsessed with Fundamentalists as they are with him, and His Avatars are the means of getting to them by the surest route--the stomach. You might not trust the pagan down the street, but who ever had a problem with Jimmy Dean?

Well, Sam Hain found a receptive (and amused) vehicle in myself, and one Samhain, he decided to see what was going on. He didn't get many followers, but he had a couple beers and left the room happy. Ever since, the Avatars occupy a special place in my freezer, and I no longer fear the Lord of Death, for I know just how he best likes to be supplicated. So celebrate your holydays, whatever they may be, and if a strange stranger comes to your door, feed it, whoever it may be, because you just NEVER KNOW.

How do you get your keyboard to put the accents in, Shae?? Neat trick! (Never afraid to ask a probably stupid question...). I'm afraid that all the above took was a couple of beers and a good memory. I can't figure out whether that makes me twisted, or inventive...Just thought the board needed a dose of the ridiculous.

"needed a dose of the ridiculous" ?
I've obviously been neglecting my duties !!

Needs more coloÚr !!

That ought to make the American cousins envious.
'U' in our colour and fada's on our keyboards.

CTRL/ALT letter does it, but I think not if your keyboard/language is configured for the US versions.

Us Europeans are vey inventive, Acc.

Yep. Try the keys Acc suggested. It works for us. Just remember you have to use the Shift key too, if you want Capital letters.

Just as an experiment, can everybody read the following?

á é í ó ú

Á, É, Í, Ó, Ú?

Séamus Mach Flannchaidh is aimn dom.

What's your name?

I meant this board in particular, Acc--the one I started and left to languish *s*. The silliness level in the rest of the Tir is full up, IMHO...

Which name would you like *grin*?
At home, I'm Erin.
In the Tir, is mise Roisin.
At Renaissance Faire, I'm Sorche.
At Dickens Fair, I'm Jenny Tarbuckle-Wolff.
As a singer, I'm The Black Rose.

If you really want a list, ask the Pixie! She's got about a million more!

The work keyboard can't be changed without the Dread Permission of the sysadmin, but as soon as I get home, I'm gonna experiment with mine! Thank you for answering a dumb question with such grace!
