Could someone translate this for me. Twas on the wall of an 'Irish' pub in Perth Western Australia called Paddy Hannan's. I was getting myself around a Murphy's Irish Red at the time so I hope I got it right...

Many thanks Acc . The pub did have a lot of train paraphenalia around the place. You've done me a great service. Hope to find another excuse to pick your brains.
Thanks again Leda.

It's a sort of "Little brown jug don't I love thee"

Oh, the love of my heart, my little jug
Goo health ty you my darling
Love of my heart my little jug full, full, full
..... and at this stage you work out the rest yourself :)

Someone asked me recently could I find the gaelic translation for this phrase.

"My hovercraft is full of eels".

I think I heard him mention he was a Basque Situationist.

That's an old Monty Python bit

You know! I don't think he was a situationist afterall. His hovercraft wasn't full of eels.

Well! here's the translation anyway.

"Mo árthach foluaineach se lán eascann"

Now, what's the word for detonators?.

Hmmmmmmm!

Someone in a situation
- wearing a basque
- sitting in a hovercraft full of eels

Here we have a case where cultural differences give rise to difficulty with the formulation of a direct translation.

All you have to do is replace the curly brackets at the beginning and end with
their pointier cousins.>
