I would appreciate any information anyone might send me on the Oladum and his duties/history.

Gwhryr, I've read a lot of Irish mythology and haven't seen Oladum before. Can you give us any more information on him?

There's an Oilill Olum - or Aongus Olum ?
He raped Áine, daughter of Eogabal. She bit his ear off. (and serve him right)

It's a role or a title not a specific individual...as far as I understand it refers to a spiritual guide from another path. The parents or another authority figure seeks an Oladum for their child. That is as much as I know, though I admit it may be erroneous.

Now i KNOW it isn't this :)
There's a company in Ireland named Odlums.
They mill flour, and also produce porridge oats.
Many a parent has sought to give a child Odlums.

Mind you, after a few thousand years of oral tradition, something as simple as Odlums could develop into something less prosaic.

But it must be real.

I had found that and while it seems to at least be in the spirit of the Oladum as I understand it, it gave very little information....thank you though. Are there any elders who continue the practice of holding an oral tradition? Would someone have access to them? I appreciate the aid Acc. The web is singularly unhelpful, it seems much more interested with indulging mans baser natures than his higher impulses.
