Hi! I'm new to this--but have been seeking any info on a book I read over 30+ years ago. It had a tale about the wee folks cursing the clans of ireland by causing them to lose the attribute that that clan was famous for--ex--beautiful red hair, go bald as ages; great dancers, have trouble walking as ages; etc. Also looking for any info on folklore--I remember bits and pieces my Grandmother and her peers told me as a child.
Thanks!

Hi--is anyone out there? I thought at least one person would be able to help me. My relatives swear I dreamed the story--or just made it up! The reason the story stayed with me is that the clan or family O'Malleys' curse was that in old age they would lose the ability to walk unaided or dance. This has happened in over three generations of my family--on the O'Malley side.
Again--any suggestions or possible book/story titles would be gratefully accepted--before I am carted off to the "funny farm" for being delusional.

Kaz, I haven't heard this story, and I asked an O'Malley last night and he hadn't heard it either. A compilation of folk tales by W.B. Yeats was re-published in the last few years. If the story is anywhere, it should be there. I don't have it but I'll check at the weekend and if your story is in it I'll send you details. Shae

Well folks, the "Curse of the Clans" cannot be explained here. Acc has a rule against profanity but for the record the curse was something like this @#$%. Got it? *LOL*

Hello, I'm new here; I'm desperately in need of any hard and fast information on the red hand of Ireland -- its association with the O'Neills, with the province of Ulster, and especially, any information on the legend about a warrior cutting off their left hand to claim land. When I say "hard and fast," I mean something more than common knowledge, ie. sources in books, journal articles, encyclopedias.

Can anyone help me with this?
