I have this little resin figurine I bought a few years ago. He came with a card that told who he is and his purpose. I lost the card and now I can't for the life of me remember what he was called.
Basically, he's a miserable looking little guy, sitting cross legged with his hands on his face. His expression was described as miserable. He has no clothes, a pointy head and a very prominent spine.
His purpose was described as being placed in a window facing outwards. When evil spirits came by looking to create misery, they would see him sitting there, assume the household was already miserable and pass on to the next. He was said to be of Irish origin.
Has anyone heard of these things before? I'd really appreciate any help in finding out what he's called, and if in fact, the Irish (or whoever!) actually used them to ward off evil.
Thanks!
