For several years I have researched the name Domhnallain (Donnellan/Donelan/Donellan/etc.) and obtained a large body of data covering the period 1560 to the present day. It is prior to 1560 that I need now to investigate. I need suggestions on how best to do this, referrals to web or book data and VERY specific data sources.
I've already covered Tribes & Customs of Hy Many, the NLI, National Archives, Hardiman Library, etc.
Seeking particular data on Tully (Tuathal); Melaghlin; Auley; Eris; Shane (John);Murtaugh; etc.-all circa 1550-1650. Any suggestions ?

You could try the Annals. Translations of the Annals of the Four Masters and the Annals of Ulster are at: http://www.ucc.ie/celt/translist.html

If you don't already have it, "Irish Names" by Donnchadh Ó Corráin and Fidelma Maguire will help you with the Irish versions of some of the names.
