Irish Archaeology Illustrated, Edited by Michael Ryan

This is an excellent overview of Irish Archaeology. Michael Ryan has edited the contributions of 37 experts into a timeline covering Neolithic to 17th Century.

It's very well illustrated, with hundreds of photographs and drawings. Although the individual writers are professionals in their respective fields (no pun intended) the book does not come across as a heavy academic tome.

Apres moi, le deluge!!!

Ye Gods Lacie *LOL*

You're right! This section of the board WAS intended for Irish (mostly old) things. I'll amend the headings to clarify that!!
Books on other topics could be introduced as a new conversation under the General section.

Could we also try to "create new conversations" for each book, or at least for each major topic
e.g. Archaeology, Celtic, Mythology, Art, Stories, Language, etc?

Plus it would be good to say a few words on the book. (Basically give reasons why anyone should bother to read it)

*Waves his hand in an insufferably pompous and condecending fashion*

That's OK Lacie.
Long-term I envisage giving people the ability to set up a form of Home-in-Tír.
The Mighty Fionn's Inn flavour is a sort-of step on the way, but it doesn't give the home-owner enough control.
I'm pretty open on the topics raised. I'm just concerned that navigating the information is clear for any readers.

*Sends the Island Boys out for some boiling oil*
